Frequently asked questions
We are located in the center of Rovaniemi at Valtakatu 33 L 2 (ground floor).
There are plenty of parking spaces right in front of our premises along the street and beside the building. Parking is paid on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.
The Deep Relaxation Package combines two research-based methods to offer a comprehensive, deeply relaxing, and unique treatment experience. The package is designed to guide you into a state of total relaxation through a carefully planned sequence of treatments.
The package begins with a relaxing Neurosonic low-frequency vibration therapy session. The Finnish Neurosonic technology produces vibrations that soothe both the body and the mind by affecting the autonomic nervous system.
Neurosonic therapy gently and effectively cuts through the stress and stimuli of everyday life, preparing your body and mind for the floating session. This process can make it easier and quicker to reach a deeply relaxed state while floating.
The total duration of the Deep Relaxation Package is approximately 2 hours. You don’t need to bring anything with you, as everything required, from towels to cosmetics and refreshments, is provided.
The experience begins with a 25-minute relaxing Neurosonic session, followed by 60 minutes of float therapy. The remaining time is allocated for you to comfortably listen to instructions, shower before and after floating, and get dressed.
After floating, you’ll have access to our beautifying station with hair dryers and high-quality, Finnish Taiga Cosmetics natural skincare products. You’ll also be served a warm drink of your choice at the end of your visit. In our cozy lounge, light snacks and a variety of reading materials are available, or you can simply relax in peace.
We recommend avoiding any rushed appointments after your visit so you can fully enjoy the afterglow of deep relaxation.
You only need to book a suitable time and you can pay for your visit upon arrival at your reserved time. We accept regular bank and credit cards, as well as cash and Smartum and Edenred payment options. Unfortunately, Epassi is not an accepted payment method.
You can also pay in advance through our online store or by visiting us. The sessions you purchase will be added to your customer account, and they are valid for one year from the date of purchase (except for the introductory offer, which is valid for 6 months).
In our online store, we accept mobile payments, bank transfers, and regular payment cards. We also offer invoice and installment payment options.
Individual Neurosonic treatments can only be purchased at our store.
Neither Neurosonic nor floating requires any special preparation. Generally, it’s enough to arrive at your reserved time. However, here are a few tips to ensure the most comfortable experience possible.
When you arrive for the first time, we will introduce you to the facilities, explain how the Neurosonic and floating tank work, and go over general tips. Feel free to ask any additional questions at any time.
We recommend eating lightly before your visit. It’s also a good idea to avoid consuming caffeine or other stimulating products at least a few hours before your appointment.
We do not recommend shaving right before floating, as the high salt content in the water may cause irritation.
If you plan to color your hair, it’s best to avoid doing so right before floating. If you’ve recently dyed your hair, it’s good to wait at least a few weeks before coming to float. A general rule is that if your hair no longer releases color onto a towel after a shower, you can float. You can also borrow a swim cap from us if you're concerned about hair dye potentially leaking.
We recommend floating without a swimsuit, but if you prefer, you can wear one.
We also recommend removing any jewelry, as the goal is to minimize all sensory stimuli, including the sense of touch. This is easier to achieve when your skin is not touching anything.
When you come to us, you don’t need to bring anything with you. We provide towels, hairdryers, high-quality Taiga Cosmetics natural skincare products, and everything else you’ll need during your visit.
No need to worry—this is a common question customers ask when considering floating.
The float tanks we use are the largest "pod" style tanks on the market. The tanks measure approximately 2.6 meters in length and 1.7 meters in width, so there’s plenty of room for a comfortable float, regardless of your size. The tanks are made by Dreampod, a leading manufacturer in the industry, which has been producing float tanks since 2011.
The lid of the tank is lightweight and easy to open. It has no locking or motorized components, and it cannot get stuck. You can open the lid at any time, or even leave it open completely if you prefer. You also control the lighting during your float. You can turn the lights off at any time or keep them on.
If you’re feeling nervous about floating, we recommend reading the article about Anxiety and Fears on our website, where you can find more detailed information on the subject.
Yes, you can get out of the float tank at any time.
There’s a bench next to the tank where you can sit if needed, even during your float. While the saltwater buoyancy keeps you floating on your back, the water level is only about 30 cm deep, so you can still sit up inside the tank. The customer restroom is located next to the float room, so you can use it at any point during your float if necessary.
Our cleaning procedures are safe and fragrance-free.
The Epsom salt used in the float tanks naturally makes the water very sterile. The water in the tanks is filtered multiple times through a cleaning system after each float. In addition to mechanical filtration, the system uses UV light to destroy bacteria and viruses. The water is also chemically cleaned daily with hydrogen peroxide. We test the water daily to ensure its cleanliness.
The cleanliness and hygiene of the float tanks and our operations are monitored by health authorities (Valvira). We submit our measurement reports to the supervising authorities. Our cleaning procedures are based on recommendations from Finnish and international health authorities.
Along with warm and welcoming customer service, we take great pride in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our facilities.
While floating is generally suitable for almost everyone, there are some situations and health conditions to be aware of when planning your float.
Floating is not recommended in the following cases:
- Large open wounds: Small wounds can be protected with vaseline, which is available in the float rooms.
- Epileptics: Only with written consent from the treating physician.
- Kidney failure.
- Heart conditions: Only with written consent from the treating physician.
- Pregnancy: Floating is generally safe during pregnancy, but we do not recommend floating during the final weeks of pregnancy as your body may be more sensitive to new experiences., Float tanks have been used and studied since the 1950s, and no negative effects on pregnancy have been observed. However, every pregnancy is unique, and if you're uncertain, we recommend discussing it with your doctor.
- During menstruation: Floating is possible, just like in a spa.
- New tattoos: Floating is not recommended with a fresh tattoo. Wait until the tattoo heals before floating.
- Hair coloring: Wait at least 2 weeks before floating after dyeing your hair. A good rule of thumb is to float once the dye no longer comes off on a towel after a shower.
- Balance problems (e.g., Meniere's disease):
Individuals with particularly sensitive balance systems may experience discomfort while floating.
This is very rare and usually passes quickly after getting out of the tank.
If you’re unsure whether floating is suitable for you, we recommend discussing it with your doctor.
The floating experience lasts 60 minutes. In our calendar, bookings always show as 2 hours.
When you book a float session (not part of a deep relaxation package), the total duration of the first visit is around 2 hours, with 60 minutes of floating time. The remaining time is reserved for you to relax, shower before and after your float, and get dressed. After your float, you can use our beauty and grooming area, where you’ll find high-quality natural cosmetics from Finnish Taiga Cosmetics. At the end of your session, you can enjoy your chosen beverage and spend time in our cozy lounge with no time limits.
We highly recommend not scheduling anything urgent immediately after your float so you can fully enjoy the calming effects of the experience.
If you want, you can also extend your float by booking two consecutive sessions.
No, you don’t need one. We recommend floating without a swimsuit, as the experience is generally more pleasant when your skin is not in contact with anything. However, if you prefer, you can wear a swimsuit.
We also recommend removing any jewelry, as the goal is to minimize all sensory stimuli, including the sense of touch. This is easier to achieve when your skin is not touching anything.
Both the float tank and the shower are located in the same room, which is your completely private space. You can also lock the door for extra privacy.
There is no one right way to float. You control the light in the tank during your float, and you can choose whether to float in complete darkness or with the light on. By default, music plays for the first 15 minutes and the last 5 minutes of your session. However, the amount of music during the float can be adjusted—some floaters prefer a shorter amount of music, while others enjoy having it play throughout the entire session. There is no correct or incorrect way to float.
The floating experience is highly individual, and we encourage you not to set specific expectations at the beginning. It may take some time to adjust to this entirely new environment, but everyone can find the style of floating that works best for them. We recommend experimenting with the settings to find what feels most comfortable for you.
It’s quite common for relaxing the neck to feel challenging at first. Generally, keeping your arms above your shoulders can help with relaxing the neck area. If you find it difficult to relax your neck, we recommend using the neck pillow available in the tank to ensure the most comfortable floating experience.
The potential benefits of floating are vast, and people come for a variety of reasons. For some, it's about experiencing a new kind of sensation or enjoying a relaxing break from the stresses of daily life.
Many people suffering from sleep issues, anxiety, stress, burnout, or chronic pain find floating beneficial. Athletes around the world also use floating to enhance overall recovery. Floating can also serve as a significant source of inspiration, for example, in creative work planning. A float tank is an excellent space for mental rehearsal or visualization exercises.
The therapeutic benefits of floating have been supported by several clinical studies.
Here are some of the researched and user experienced benefits of floating:
- Deep relaxation of the body and mind
- Reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, burnout, and depression
- Help with insomnia and improve sleep patterns
- Enhanced concentration, creativity, learning, and memory
- Relieve and elimination physical pain
- Speeds up recovery from sports performance
- Epsom salt used in the tanks is magnesium sulfate, which has long been used in beauty treatments for the skin, scalp, and hair. Floating also benefits the muscles, as the relaxation and weightlessness, along with the absorption of magnesium, are beneficial for muscle recovery. The body is able to eliminate excess magnesium, so regular floating is not a strain on the body, but rather, beneficial.

Floating feels like you're "floating in emptiness."
During floating, both the body and mind can reach a deeply relaxed state, which can also be described as a meditative state. The saltwater in the floating tank supports the body, allowing for a completely unique sensation of weightlessness.
The water and air inside the floating tank are body-temperature, and as you float, your body "disappears" because you no longer clearly distinguish between the water and air. This completely sensory-deprived environment provides the mind with the perfect opportunity to fully relax. As the mind quiets during floating, brain activity often slows to the theta wave level, the same state that occurs just before falling asleep.
In this deeply relaxed state, you may notice a drop in blood pressure and heart rate, as well as a reduction in the stress hormone cortisol. The post-floating sensation is often experienced as deeply relaxing, even euphoric.
There’s no harm in falling asleep in the tank—in fact, it’s a sign that you’ve achieved a deep state of relaxation. There’s no risk of sinking under the water, as the saltwater in the tank is buoyant enough to keep you on the surface. If you do fall asleep, the signal sound at the end of the session will usually be enough to wake you. The tank undergoes an automatic cleaning cycle at the end of each session, and the slight movement of the water caused by the cleaning process often helps rouse those who have fallen into a deep sleep.
If you’re sleeping so soundly that you don’t wake up even with the tank’s cleaning, we can remotely play a gentle wake-up sound for you. No one will enter the room, even if you’re deeply asleep.

Your tattoo should be fully healed before coming to float. If you’ve recently dyed your hair, we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before floating. A good rule of thumb is that you can float once no hair dye comes off on the towel after a shower. We also have swim caps available for you to borrow during your float session if you're concerned about your hair dye leaking.
Yes, you can! We have two Neurosonic divans in one room and two similar floating tanks in two separate rooms. The sessions begin at the same time in each floating tank room. When booking for two, remember to reserve both rooms (Room 1 and Room 2) in our booking calendar.
Neurosonic treatments are done in the same room on separate divans, while floating sessions take place in separate rooms.
Our floating tanks are among the largest on the market and can accommodate two people. However, floating together may not provide the same strong sensory deprivation experience as floating alone, so we generally recommend floating alone for the first few sessions. That said, floating together in the same tank can be a unique and bonding experience, especially for couples.
If you wish to float together in the same tank, you will still need to reserve both rooms in the booking system. This ensures that you will have personalized service without other clients in the same time slot.
If you are coming with a larger group, please contact us by phone or email, and we will tailor a suitable package for you. Normally, our service can accommodate a group of up to 4 people at the same time, but larger groups can also be arranged upon request.

Please remember to cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. You can cancel up to 12 hours before your appointment through our booking calendar, by calling us, or by email. The confirmation message for your booking also contains a link through which you can cancel your appointment.
If you fail to cancel your appointment or cancel less than 12 hours before the appointment without a valid reason, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 30 euros for an un-cancelled appointment or late cancellation.
Generally, floating is very suitable during pregnancy. Floating tanks have been used and studied since the 1950s, and no negative effects related to pregnancy have been observed.
However, during the later stages of pregnancy (over 8 months), we do not recommend floating, as the body may be sensitive to new environments, and it can also be difficult to find a comfortable floating position.
Since each pregnancy is unique, if you are pregnant and wondering about floating, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider.
Epsom salt used in floating tanks is beneficial for the skin, and many individuals with atopic dermatitis have found floating helpful.
If your skin is broken, the high salt content in the water may cause stinging. We recommend applying vaseline, available in the floating rooms, to any open wounds or broken skin to soothe the stinging. If your atopic dermatitis is in an acute phase, it might be better to wait until your skin condition improves before floating.
Neurosonic treatment produces very low-frequency vibrations that have a calming effect on the autonomic nervous system. The vibrations feel similar to a cat's purring and are generally experienced as very pleasant and deeply relaxing.
The vibrations naturally influence the body’s autonomic nervous system and mind, guiding the body into a meditative-like state. This helps alleviate stress, enhances recovery, and can improve sleep mechanisms.
In our Deep Relaxation Package, we use a 25-minute calming program before floating. For first-time users, we recommend starting with relatively low intensity, around 40-50% on a scale of 0-100. The intensity can be adjusted individually for each session based on personal preferences and needs.
When Neurosonic treatment is used on its own (without floating), you can choose from both restorative and activating programs.
We always provide expert guidance and support for using the Neurosonic treatment.
The Finnish-made Neurosonic has been on the market since 2011. Over the past decade, feedback from thousands of customers has proven the positive effects of the vibrations on sleep quality, pain relief, recovery, and stress reduction. Neurosonic vibration therapy has patent protection in 22 countries for treating stress-related sleep disorders.
In addition to subjective customer experiences, Neurosonic technology has gained scientific support through research aimed at improving the quality and health benefits of the products.
Here are some of the benefits of Neurosonic treatments, based on research and user experiences:
- Improves sleep quality and helps with falling asleep
- Promotes circulation
- Speeds up metabolism and fluid circulation
- Supports recovery
- Reduces swelling
- Relaxes muscles
- May alleviate pain
- Reduces mental and physical tension, as well as anxiety
- Activates muscle function
For more information on studies and scientific support, you can check our website or visit Neurosonic's official page at www.neurosonic.fi.
In general, Neurosonic treatment is suitable for people of all ages, and devices such as pacemakers, pain stimulators, or metallic implants do not prevent the use of Neurosonic. Since Neurosonic technology uses the body’s own frequency ranges, it operates at the same frequency as the body’s tissues, minimizing the possibility of side effects.
However, Neurosonic treatment should not be used if you have any of the following:
- Flu or fever
- Acute inflammation
- Acute blood clot
- Active cancer
- Acute herniated disc
- Pregnancy
- Serious eye conditions (e.g., risk of cataract or lens detachment, eye surgery)
- Recent open surgery or any other risk of bleeding
- After a vaccination, do not use Neurosonic for 24 hours
If you have epilepsy or any other brain-related conditions, we recommend avoiding vibration on the head and neck area.
While many people suffering from migraines have benefited from Neurosonic, it is advisable to limit vibration in the head and neck region during initial treatments for migraine-prone individuals.
If you are unsure about whether Neurosonic treatment is suitable for you, please feel free to contact us. If we cannot provide a definitive answer, we always recommend discussing the matter with your healthcare provider.
Yes, you can book individual Neurosonic treatments without floating.
